My best friends and I had the pleasure to visit Departure, a modern and elevated Asian-inspired rooftop restaurant & bar located on the 15th floor of The Nines Hotel in downtown Portland. The place is simply incredible, with sleek and daring indoor dining space, leading out to two fantastic rooftop terraces. We were particularly impressed with the full menu and seated service available on the extension of the restaurant terrace.
The pan-Asian food menu is simply amazing, starting with street food-styled starters to market-fresh sushi, dim sum, and kushiyaki skewers. We particularly enjoyed the chef-driven seasonal tasting menu experience, which was a true delight from start to finish. The restaurant’s cocktails are equally impressive, and we were all very pleased with the expertly crafted signature drinks.
But the highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the stunning views over the Portland skyline, with its river and bridges. It was truly breathtaking to enjoy such a beautiful landscape while indulging in the fantastic food and drinks offered by Departure.
The atmosphere is a mix of vibrant relaxation and refined elegance, and we all had a fantastic time. Highly recommended for special nights of drinks, dining, and views! If you’re planning to visit, bear in mind that the opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 16.00 – 23.00. You won’t regret it!
