What to wear for The Swimming Club at KL Journal in Kuala Lumpur? Dress Code for men and women

My sister and I recently visited The Swimming Club, a retro-chic rooftop pool lounge located on the 11th floor of The KL Journal boutique hotel in the Bukit Bintang area. The terrace was completely restyled in 2018 and now boasts a stunning decor of 80’s Palm Springs meet Wes Anderson. The colorful terrace is almost as exciting as the fabulous KL view!

We were immediately drawn to the signature cocktails, and my sister couldn’t resist trying the ‘Rooftop Cucumber Lemonade’. It was refreshing and well made; she highly recommends it! We also tried the Journal Burger and Poolside Katsu Bun, both of which were tasty and perfect for snacking poolside.

The Swimming Club is perfect for a relaxing afternoon drink while soaking up the sun and watching the sunset over the city. If you’re lucky, you might even catch one of their weekly theme nights or happy hour between 4-7pm. Make sure to check their Facebook or Instagram to keep up to date with all the fun events they have planned.

One of the highlights of The Swimming Club is the fantastic saltwater infinity pool. If you book a stay at The Kuala Lumpur Journal Hotel, the terrace opens as early as 7am, and you can enjoy the pool and terrace all day long. On Fridays and Saturdays, the terrace is open from 12.00 – 22.00.

Overall, my sister and I had a wonderful time at The Swimming Club. The ambiance, drinks, and food were all excellent. We highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for a bougie rooftop bar with stunning views of KL.

Dress to Impress: What to Wear to The Swimming Club

As a fashion expert, I know that the perfect outfit can make or break any rooftop experience. Here are my recommendations for what to wear to The Swimming Club:

For women, I suggest a flowy sundress in bright colors that complement the palm springs meets Wes Anderson design of the terrace. Pair it with a cute pair of sandals from brands like Steve Madden or Sam Edelman. Accessorize with a straw hat and a statement necklace to complete the look.

For men, I recommend wearing a linen shirt in a pastel color and a pair of chinos or shorts. Complete the outfit with a pair of boat shoes or espadrilles for a casual yet stylish look. Brands like Bonobos or J.Crew offer great options for these pieces.

No matter your gender, sunglasses are a must-have accessory for any rooftop experience. I recommend Ray-Ban or Maui Jim for their stylish and functional designs.

Now that you know what to wear, let’s talk about the perfect shoes to wear to The Swimming Club. For women, I suggest a comfortable pair of wedges or block heels to elevate your look without sacrificing comfort. Brands like TOMS or Marc Fisher offer great options. For men, a pair of casual sneakers from brands like Adidas or Vans will do the trick.

With these fashion tips, you’ll be sure to turn heads at The Swimming Club. Finally, don’t forget to snap a picture of your stylish outfit against the stunning infinity pool and share it on your social media pages for all to see!
