El Viajero is the kind of place that will charm you from the moment you step inside. My best friends and I recently visited this three-level restaurant and bar, and the rooftop garden was definitely the highlight of our night. Located in Madrid’s Latina area, El Viajero is the only rooftop bar in the city that made it to our list of must-visit places.
As we entered the building, we couldn’t help but admire the classic nineteenth-century architecture. The ground floor held a full-on restaurant, while the second floor had a bar. But it was the third floor that caught our attention – it had the best of both worlds! Plus, there was a shop that offered a specially curated selection of products.
We decided to check out the kitchen on the terrace, and boy were we surprised! The selection of simple, healthy and tasty meals was impressive. From Josper roasted hamburgers to smoked delicacies, there was something for everyone. But it was the rooftop bar that stole the show. The wide selection of cocktails was impressive, and the mojito was definitely our favourite.
Watching the sunset from the rooftop garden was a magical experience. The views over old town Madrid and down the lane to San Francisco el Grande were cool, to say the least. The vibrant and relaxed atmosphere made us feel like we were on top of the world.
We couldn’t help but recommend El Viajero to anyone who wants to have a good time in Madrid. However, make sure to be on time to guarantee a good spot, as reservations are not possible for the rooftop terrace. The opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 10.30 – 21.00. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
