Intermezzo Restaurant & Roof Terrace is a must-visit spot when in Budapest. With its prime location on top of the Hotel President, this rooftop bar offers a breathtaking 360-view over the city. My best friends and I were blown away by the stunning close-up views of the Hungarian National Treasury building.

We visited during the summer and were thrilled to find out that the rooftop is an open-air extension of the ground floor Intermezzo Restaurant. Even during the colder months, the rooftop igloos and occasional ice skating rink are major attractions. However, it’s the sunshine and sunsets that really make this place shine.

The terrace is simply decorated with dining tables and a few lounge spots, but it’s the view that steals the show. We enjoyed a selection of delicious cocktails, wines, and barbecue-like dishes, as well as vegetarian options. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we felt it was the perfect complement to the beautiful sunset. On some occasions, the rooftop was spiced up with DJ sets and rooftop parties, which added to the overall experience.

If you plan on dining at Intermezzo, I suggest booking a table in advance to avoid any disappointments. Although, if you want to enjoy a few drinks and take in the view, you can usually just head up to the terrace. The opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 16.00 – 22.00, and the address is 1054 Budapest, Hold utca 5.
