The rooftop is divided into four different zones, including an indoor bar, outdoor terrace, private terrace, and the lawn. We thoroughly enjoyed the panoramic views of uptown Charlotte, which were visible from the outdoor terrace and the floor-to-ceiling windows. During the colder season, the outdoor terrace is also equipped with some really cozy rooftop igloos, which we loved.

We indulged in a wide range of carefully curated cocktails, from seasonal specialties to Merchant & Trade classics. The local Charlotte-brews on tap are also worth trying. Executive Chef Robert Hoffman’s elevated bar bites, like small plates of Hand-Cut Beef Tartare and Roast Salmon, paired perfectly with our drinks. We were delighted with the sophisticated yet vibrant lounge vibe of this rooftop bar, which made it a great venue for a stylish weekday after-work gathering or a weekend night out. The local DJs added an extra layer of fun and excitement to our night.

One thing to note is that the Kimpton Charlotte rooftop is a first-come, first-served venue and highly popular, so try to be there early and prepare for a bit of waiting at the elevator up. The opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 17.00 – 00.00. Overall, my friends and I highly recommend Merchant & Trade for anyone looking for a top-notch rooftop bar experience in Charlotte.
