What to wear for Hi-Lawn in Washington? Dress Code for men and women
Hello fellow foodies! I had the pleasure of visiting Hi-Lawn, a spacious and picnic-style open-air eatery and rooftop bar, with some of my best friends and it was an absolute delight. The venue, perched on top of the Union Market, is a fun, laid-back and welcoming rooftop and green space, making it the perfect picnic spot in DC.
Despite opening during 2020, Hi-Lawn is one of the most expansive rooftops in DC, and it’s outfitted with picnic tables, colorful patio umbrellas, and designated picnic spaces on the artificial turf. The downstairs market is packed with culinary options from over 40 local vendors, but the Hi-Lawn also has its own artfully-designed shipping container working as a bar. Here, we enjoyed some delicious draft cocktails, boozy punch pouches, craft beers, well-curated wines, and a few bites such as the Griddled Cheese Sandwich.
The breathtaking 360-degree views over the rapidly-changing neighborhood and the DC skyline were absolutely stunning. We felt like we were in an urban backyard, enjoying relaxing drinks under the summer sun. However, thanks to the firepits and heated tent, Hi-Lawn is also available during the colder season.
The opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 12.00 – 21.00, and the address is 1309 5th St NE, Washington, DC 20002. My friends and I highly recommend Hi-Lawn to anyone looking for a great venue to relax and unwind in the heart of DC. It’s perfect for a fun day out with friends and family, and we cannot wait to go back!
