Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge is an absolute gem, tucked away on Main Street in downtown Houston. My best friends and I were intrigued by the unmarked entrance, but with a little bit of detective work, we found it. We made our way up the stairs through the entrance next door to The Nightingale Room and were greeted by a cozy and chic speakeasy-style cocktail bar. The urban vistas from the rooftop balcony were breathtaking and added to the overall ambience.

The focus on authentic cocktails is evident in the small but carefully curated menu. We couldn’t resist trying some of the creative originals by the skilled bartenders. My personal favorite was the Bad News Fashioned, made to perfection with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. My friends also raved about the classics like the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned.

Although the rooftop bar is small, it is the perfect spot to enjoy a breezy evening and take in the sights and sounds of Main Street. We appreciated that they don’t take reservations and don’t have a TV, which added to the intimate and exclusive atmosphere. It’s worth noting that they don’t serve food, but that wasn’t a problem as we were there for the drinks and conversations.

Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for an upscale and classy bar experience in Houston. The opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 17.00 – 02.00, so make sure to plan accordingly. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back soon!
